Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for the central and lower southern regions, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. Temperatures in upper Thailand are expected to rise by 1-2 degrees Celsius, although mornings in the North, Northeast, and Central regions will stay cool, with some light rain anticipated.
According to Thai News Agency, the 24-hour weather forecast highlights significant rainfall for residents, particularly in the regions of Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Phang Nga, Phuket, and Krabi. These areas should prepare for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, which may cause flooding due to a strong monsoon trough and a moderate northeast monsoon affecting the upper Gulf of Thailand, the upper southern region, and the upper Andaman Sea. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are advised to exercise caution, as waves will range from 1-2 meters, increasing to more than 2 meters in stormy conditions.
The report also indicates a slight temperature rise in upper Thailand, yet mornings will remain cool in the North, Northeast, and Central regions. The change in temperature stems from a weakening high-pressure area or moderate cold air mass from China covering upper Thailand, prompting residents to take care of their health amid changing weather.
Detailed weather forecasts specify that the Northern region will experience cool mornings, with temperatures rising by 1-2 degrees Celsius and some light rain. The maximum temperatures will range from 30-33 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the Northeastern region will see morning coolness with a slight temperature increase and light rain in its lower parts. The Central and Eastern regions will also witness a rise in temperature with some light rain, especially along the coast.
In Southern Thailand, thunderstorms are expected to cover 70% of the area, with heavy to very heavy rain in certain provinces. The east coast, including Chumphon and Surat Thani, will see waves of 1-2 meters, higher in thunderstorms. The west coast will also experience significant rain in areas like Ranong and Phuket, with waves reaching over 2 meters in stormy conditions.
Bangkok and its surrounding areas will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures increasing by 1-2 degrees Celsius, influenced by northeasterly winds.
