Chawang: A gunman pursued and shot two individuals to death before retreating into a forest area where he turned the gun on himself, resulting in his own death. This tragic incident unfolded in Chawang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 2:10 PM when Chawang Police Station was alerted about a shooting near a resort in Tambon Chawang, Amphoe Chawang, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Upon investigation, authorities discovered the first victim, Mr. Narong Boonpradit, nicknamed Bao, aged 49, lying on the road wearing only underwear with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Approximately 200 meters away, in a nearby alley, they found the second victim, Mr. Nattakit Katakul, nicknamed Tiu, aged 26, who also suffered a fatal headshot and was wearing blue shorts and a sports shirt. He was shot twice.
The alleged shooter, Mr. Suraphan Phrukkun, nicknamed James, aged 36, was found dead in the grass. He was in possession of a 9 mm handgun, which was identified as the weapon used in the killings and his subsequent suicide.
Police initially believe that a previous conflict existed between Mr. Suraphan and Mr. Narong, leading to the initial shooting. Mr. Narong reportedly attempted to flee, but was pursued and shot again by Mr. Suraphan. The second victim, Mr. Nattakit, apparently arrived at the scene after hearing gunshots and was subsequently shot multiple times by Mr. Suraphan. After the shootings, Mr. Suraphan fled into the grass, where he committed suicide. Authorities are investigating the precise motive behind the attack.
