GreenVille Farm Caf©: A Model of Sustainable Agriculture and Community Support

Bang krachet: GreenVille Farm Caf© is redefining the concept of dining and agro-tourism in Bang Krachet Subdistrict, Chachoengsao Province, by seamlessly integrating a restaurant, vegetable farm, and agro-tourism destination.

According to Thai News Agency, the inspiration behind GreenVille Farm Caf© came from Waris Kaewpakdee and her family's commitment to health and sustainability. With a background in biochemistry and a passion for hydroponic vegetable farming, Waris embarked on a journey to share the experience of fresh, homegrown produce with others. This initiative quickly evolved from a personal passion into a thriving business model that supports community engagement and income generation.

Waris initially shared her surplus vegetables with neighbors, which led to the development of a delivery service for salad baskets across Chachoengsao. Her vision was to establish GreenVille Farm as the go-to brand for salad vegetables in the region. Customers are invited to pick fresh vegetables from the farm, a unique offering that sets GreenVille apart from larger commercial farms. This hands-on experience has proven popular, drawing visitors interested in the beauty and freshness of farm-to-table produce.

Spurred by customer interest, Waris opened a small caf© near the vegetable plot, capitalizing on the farm's picturesque setting. The caf© quickly gained traction, prompting a move to a larger 27-rai site in Bang Krachet Subdistrict. Despite its remote location in a traditional shrimp farming area, the caf© has thrived for seven years, with a commitment to serving fresh produce year-round.

GreenVille Farm Caf© collaborates with local farmers to maintain a steady supply of ingredients, ensuring that the menu remains fresh and adaptable. Waris's expertise in biochemistry facilitates the creation of custom fertilizers, allowing for year-round vegetable cultivation. This approach not only supports the caf©'s operations but also fosters a sense of community among local farmers.

The caf© employs about 15 staff members from the local community and plans to expand through franchising, offering systems for both restaurant and farm operations. Waris emphasizes the importance of collaboration, shifting from a solitary endeavor to a collective mission that connects upstream farmers with downstream consumers.

GreenVille hosts a Farmer's Market and an annual farm festival, providing a platform for farmers and consumers to interact. The caf©'s menu includes kid-friendly dishes, encouraging healthy eating habits among younger generations. Initially targeting teenagers, GreenVille has attracted a diverse customer base, including multi-generational families.

Waris attributes the caf©'s success to genuine passion and a commitment to community support. GreenVille Farm Caf© continues to flourish, driven by a dedication to solving challenges and fostering a supportive network of farmers. Visitors are encouraged to experience the charm of GreenVille Farm Caf©, located in the remote but captivating Bang Krachet Subdistrict.
