Government Urges Road Safety Preparations Amid Early Rainy Season

Bangkok: Recommend preparing before driving during the rainy season to reduce the risk of accidents. The government is concerned about the people as the rainy season has come early this year. It recommends that people prepare before driving during the rainy season to reduce the risk of accidents on the road. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, stated that Thailand has officially entered the rainy season. The government is concerned about the safety of people using the roads during this time, as the risk of accidents is higher than usual. Statistics from the Injury Prevention Division, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, indicate that between 2022-2024, during May-October, there were a total of 24,303 deaths from road accidents, averaging 8,101 deaths per year, or approximately 1,350 deaths per month. To mitigate risks and prevent possible losses, the government is seeking public cooperation by adhering to five key principles: check the readiness and speed of wiper blades for clear visibility, reduce driving speed to no more than 30-50 kilometers per hour, use low beam headlights even during the day for increased visibility, check reliable weather forecasts before traveling, and study the route in advance to avoid traffic problems or flooding. 'Every life on the road is valuable and accidents can be prevented if people cooperate in preparing and strictly following the recommendations, especially during the rainy season when weather conditions can be an obstacle to driving,' Ms. Sasikarn emphasized. The government expresses its concern for all citizens and vows to stand by them in creating safety measures to ensure every journey is safe, allowing travelers to reach their destinations with confidence and ensuring the happiness of every Thai family.
