Government Spokesman Urges Cambodia to Avoid Misinterpretation of Slingshot Seed Initiative

Bangkok: A government spokesman has advised Cambodia to exercise caution and avoid employing misleading tactics following the emergence of images depicting Thailand's use of slingshots, which were actually used for planting seeds as part of a reforestation effort.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, a member of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), commented on the release of images showing officers from the Department of National Parks engaged in seed planting activities. This initiative is part of a collaborative mission between the private sector and officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment aimed at non-essential forest planting.

Mr. Jirayu emphasized the importance of understanding that this activity is occurring in Thailand, where efforts to conserve wildlife, plants, and forests are ongoing. The seed planting involves using slingshots to distribute plant seeds into areas that cannot be accessed by foot, a significant conservation measure in the region.

"If you don't know, check the information. If you don't understand, ask. Don't use dirty tactics without knowledge or information to continually accuse Thailand," Mr. Jirayu urged, highlighting the need for accurate information dissemination and constructive dialogue.
