Bangkok: A government spokesman reiterated that there will be no order to evacuate residents of Surin Province tonight, pointing out that the Cambodian government and military are intentionally creating false news daily and using social media as a tool.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, and the committee of the Special Task Force on the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation Administration (SGSA), stated that after investigating the facts with security forces and local administrative officials, they confirmed that there was no order to evacuate any remaining Thai citizens in the Surin border area tonight. The Cambodian government and military are intentionally spreading false news daily, using social media as a tool.
The Prime Minister's Office spokesman also stated that the Royal Thai Army, led by Army spokesman Major General Winthai Suvari, has denied rumors circulating on social media after it was claimed that former Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen shared a post by the Cambodian Ministry of Defense spokesman stating that the Royal Thai Army had ordered the evacuation of residents of Surin Province tonight in preparation for an attack on Cambodia before a meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC). He confirmed that this was not true.
"The Cambodian government and military use IO tactics to release false information, and use AI to create images on a daily basis to deliberately manipulate news stories or create widespread panic. I urge our fellow citizens and media to verify news before believing or sharing it. Please follow news from government agencies only," said Mr. Jirayu.
