Government Refutes Social Media Claims of Donation Request for K-9 Dogs

Bangkok: The government has confirmed that the circulating message on social media, which requests donations for military K-9 dogs, is false. The public is urged not to believe or act upon these misleading claims.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karom Polpornklang, the deputy government spokesman, addressed concerns regarding the operation of military K-9 dogs involved in search and rescue missions. He emphasized that the information shared about a 'donation request' for the military dogs participating in the rescue operations following the building collapse incident is untrue. The government reassures the public that these messages are not legitimate and should be disregarded.

The Royal Thai Army further clarified the situation by stating that it does not solicit donations for military dogs. The K-9 puppies are under the attentive care of the military veterinary team, which ensures their health, nutrition, evaluation of physical and mental well-being, and overall safety during missions. These puppies, considered soldiers, receive comprehensive training and care from expert handlers.

The government expressed gratitude to the public for their concern and support for the military dogs and their handlers. It also acknowledged the cooperation received from specialized rescue teams in enhancing the search and rescue efforts. Mr. Karom affirmed that there are no current issues with personnel, equipment, or machinery. The recent earthquake, though unpredictable, caused no serious damage apart from the collapse of the State Audit Office building. Government agencies are actively collaborating to provide complete assistance in the aftermath.
