General Prawit Calls for Urgent Measures to Protect Thai-Cambodian Border

Bangkok: General Prawit Wongsuwan has underscored the necessity to safeguard every inch of Thai territory, proposing four urgent measures for the Prime Minister's immediate action. These measures include diplomatic engagement, parliamentary address, setting up an investigative committee, and constructing a permanent border wall to prevent encroachment.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya Tawichai, spokesperson for the Palang Pracharath Party, shared the outcomes of a recent party meeting attended by General Prawit, party leaders, and members. The central focus was on the Thai-Cambodian border issue, which has garnered nationwide attention. General Prawit outlined four critical steps: reinforcing Thailand's sovereignty with immediate government action, urging the Prime Minister and ministers to clarify the situation in parliament, establishing a committee to monitor the border situation, and proposing a concrete border wall.

The spokesperson highlighted General Prawit's stance that Thai territory should not be violated with impunity and emphasized the importance of soldier safety. The party's commitment remains steadfast in defending national dignity and supporting citizens unconditionally.

When questioned about the border tensions, General Prawit advised consulting the government on the initial causes. On solutions, he reiterated the need for negotiations and stressed the importance of maintaining peace and sovereignty. General Prawit emphasized that regardless of the governing party, the priority should always be the people's welfare and national security.
