Bangkok: "Big Kriang" is perplexed, still unaware of the MOU on rare earth minerals, and has requested time to study the matter. He indicates a readiness to utilize all Senate mechanisms to investigate the issue as per his duty.
According to Thai News Agency, General Kriangkrai Srirak, who serves as the First Vice President of the Senate, expressed concerns regarding the government's signing of a memorandum of understanding on rare earth cooperation between Thailand and the United States. He questioned whether the citizens were previously unaware of this agreement and speculated if it was intentionally concealed. General Kriangkrai admitted that he only became aware of the agreement on the morning of the announcement through news reports.
When probed about whether the Senate would take steps to investigate the MOU, citing its impact on national interests, General Kriangkrai affirmed his preparedness to pursue an investigation. He mentioned the possibility of establishing a working group and a committee to address the matter comprehensively, or alternatively, raising a question or submitting an urgent oral motion. He emphasized that the investigation would be conducted in line with the Senate's duties.
In response to queries about whether the United States' involvement might disadvantage Thailand in terms of resource management, General Kriangkrai confessed his uncertainty and acknowledged that the situation required further study on his part.
