‘Fueng Fa Team’ of Amphawa Vocational College Wins World-Class Award

Doha: Thai vocational education goes global: 'Fueng Fa' team from Amphawa Vocational College wins 1st runner-up in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2025 in Qatar. Mr. Yotsapol Venugoses, Secretary-General of the Vocational Education Commission (VEC), expressed his congratulations after the 'Fueng Fah' team from Amphawa Vocational College, Samut Songkhram Province, made a name for Thailand by winning 1st runner-up in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2025 competition, a competition for the ultimate energy-saving car innovation to find the car that can travel the furthest with only 1 liter of fuel, between 8-12 February 2025 at the Lusail International Raceway, Doha, Qatar.

According to Thai News Agency, the Secretary-General of the Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) said that the Fueang Fa team from Amphawa Vocational College participated in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2025 and won the 1st runner-up in the Prototype category, Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) gasoline-fueled vehicle, which can travel 806 kilometers on only 1 liter of fuel. They faced challenges from the design process to the inspection of safety standards and more than 200 techniques, with 95 teams from 18 countries in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions participating in the competition. The Fueang Fa team is one of the teams from Thailand that has achieved outstanding results due to the abilities and cooperation of students and advisors who have been able to apply technology and knowledge in automotive mechanics, automotive engineering, and alternative energy to develop innovations that can compete on a global level.

The Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) supports and develops learners' skills in various dimensions, developing flexible curricula that are in line with current professional skills. This success is another proof that the Fueang Fa team is determined and intends to produce the best work possible. Vocational education is not just about learning in the classroom, but also about learning through actual action, practicing potential practical skills, inventing, developing, and being able to elegantly advance to the international level.

The Secretary-General of the Office of the Vocational Education Commission went on to say that the Fueang Fah team consists of members: 1. Mr. Chaiya Pratang (Vocational Certificate 2, Automotive Engineer - Team Manager), 2. Mr. Thanakorn Sueaphumee (Vocational Certificate 1, Automotive Engineer - Mechanic), 3. Ms. Benchawan Banthit (Vocational Certificate 1, Electrician - Driver), 4. Mr. Aphisit Manmanee (Vocational Certificate 3, Automotive Engineer - Mechanic), 5. Mr. Pornnarong Semachai (Advisor and Team Supervisor), 6. Mr. Phruhat Nuchsiri (Electrical Engineer - Advisor and Interpreter), and 7. Mr. Kitnan Nachampa (Director and Advisor). The competition is divided into 2 categories: Prototype Category (Prototype Cars), which are 3-wheeled, lightweight cars designed to use the lowest energy, and Urban Concept Category (Urban Concept Cars), which are 4-wheel cars that are similar to general cars and can choose to use 3 types of energy: electric batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, and internal combustion engine s.

This competition is one of the world's most important platforms that encourages youth and students to develop vehicles that use energy most efficiently and pushes for innovation in alternative energy to become a reality, the Secretary-General of the Office of the Higher Education Commission concluded.
