Frog Harvest in Korat Yields Over 30,000 Baht After Night of Rain

Korat: One night of rain led to an unexpected bounty for the residents of Taling Chan, Charakhe Hin Subdistrict, Khong Buri District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. A canal brimming with frogs presented a lucrative opportunity for locals who ventured out under the cover of darkness.

According to Thai News Agency, the family of Ms. Boon Sathong captured images of nearly 10 bags filled with various types of frogs, including toads and rubber frogs, in a community forest canal situated at the edge of their village. The frogs had emerged en masse following the heavy rainfall, filling the air with their croaks.

Mrs. Boon recounted that the canal still contained a significant number of frogs, as she observed that many had laid eggs throughout the water. In total, she managed to catch 124 kilograms of frogs. A local merchant purchased the frogs, with those carrying eggs fetching 350 baht per kilogram and those without eggs selling for 150 baht per kilogram. The endeavor earned Mrs. Boon over 32,000 baht. She shared the remaining frogs, amounting to several tens of kilograms, with her relatives for cooking purposes.
