Pathumwan: A foreigner pulled out a knife and stabbed a rider in the middle of a famous shopping mall parking lot after being dissatisfied with his request to see the contents of the parcel, even though he was the one who borrowed the rider's ID card to deliver the parcel.
According to Thai News Agency, a clip was shared showing the rider attempting to shout at the foreigner to stop. Despite the rider's pleas, the foreign man refused to halt and swiftly walked away with a white parcel box. He then pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the rider, causing minor injuries. Onlookers, witnessing the escalating situation, quickly intervened to help apprehend the foreigner. This incident unfolded in the parking lot of a renowned shopping mall in the Pathumwan area.
The reporter spoke with the rider, who recounted picking up a foreign passenger from in front of the shopping mall to deliver to another nearby mall. Upon arrival, the foreigner requested assistance in delivering a package to the 5th floor and borrowed a citizen's ID because he had forgotten his passport. The rider, suspicious of the package's contents, asked the foreigner to open it, fearing it might be illegal. When queried, the foreigner claimed it contained Lego, but the rider remained distrustful due to the package's weight. The situation escalated when the foreigner began yelling and attempted to walk away. The rider, having not delivered the package, demanded his fare, but the foreigner ignored him, leading to a physical altercation. During the scuffle, the foreigner brandished a pocket knife and stabbed the rider in the waist area, although the injury was minor. Good Samaritans intervened, but the perpetrator managed to flee while awaiting police arrival.
The rider has since presented evidence, including various clips recorded by witnesses, to the Pathumwan Metropolitan Police. He has filed a complaint against the foreigner for attempted murder and failure to pay the fare. Authorities are actively pursuing the foreigner to bring him to justice.
