Flash Floods in Phrae Cause Extensive Damage to Homes

Phrae: Flash floods hit communities in Dan Chumphon Subdistrict, Phrae Province, and parts of Rong Kwang District due to heavy rain last night. Many houses were damaged, especially in low-lying areas and natural waterways that receive water from nearby mountains and forests. The influx of water was caused by continuous heavy rain throughout the night, causing the water level to rise rapidly. Villagers were not prepared and some of the villagers' properties were damaged, especially in Ban Tok Kha, Song District, Phrae Province.

According to Thai News Agency, many houses were affected because this had never happened before. This year, there was more water than in any other year, causing them to not have time to collect their belongings and resulting in damage. The last time there was flooding was in 1995.
