Bang Phli: A fire broke out in a community in Bang Phli, resulting in the death of a woman who was unable to escape her home. The blaze damaged more than 10 houses, leaving residents in panic.
According to Thai News Agency, the fire started at a house in the middle of the community in Soi Pioneer, Tambon Bang Chalong, Amphoe Bang Phli, Samut Prakan Province. Occurring at 1:30 PM yesterday, most of the affected houses were single-story wooden structures, built closely together. The rapid spread of flames forced residents and foreign workers to flee, scrambling to save their belongings.
In a remarkable effort, over 20 Burmese and Thai workers joined forces to rescue a pickup truck parked in a garage as the fire advanced. Firefighters from Bang Chalong Subdistrict Administrative Organization, supported by disaster relief units, deployed nearly 10 fire engines to contain the blaze. After more than an hour and a half, the fire was brought under control. Tragically, the body of a 49-year-old woman was discovered in her home, unable to escape the inferno.
Ms. Lamjuan, a vegetable vendor, lost her house entirely to the fire. She expressed her devastation, as all her possessions, clothing, bedding, and 60,000 baht she had saved from selling vegetables were consumed by the flames. She now faces financial ruin, with nothing remaining.
Mr. Chom-um Tangsopa, Mayor of Bang Chalong Subdistrict Administrative Organization, conducted an inspection and confirmed that about 10 houses and rental rooms were destroyed. In response, a temporary shelter has been established at Bang Chalong Temple for affected families.
Pol. Col. Pairoj Petchploy, Superintendent of Bang Phli Police Station, indicated that the fire originated at the residence of the deceased woman, who was alone at the time. The precise cause of the fire remains undetermined, with initial assumptions pointing to a potential electrical short circuit. A thorough forensic investigation is pending to ascertain the exact cause.
