Saraburi: A fire at a tissue factory in Saraburi Province has left 7 people injured and 9 still missing. They are office workers on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The latest report is that 1 person has died.
According to Thai News Agency, a serious fire broke out at a tissue factory located in Hemaraj Industrial Estate, Nong Khae District, Saraburi Province. More than 50 fire engines and water trucks from Nong Khae District and nearby areas, as well as volunteers from several foundations, rushed to the scene. They found a fire raging inside the factory and were informed that there were 10 employees in the offices on the 2nd and 3rd floors who were still unable to get out. They rushed to spray water to extinguish the fire, but were unable to do so because there were piles of paper, which are good fuels. After more than 2 hours, the fire was finally contained.
While vehicles from several hospitals, along with medical teams and nurses, arrived at the scene to wait to take the injured to the hospital, and set up an incident command center to receive reports to check the names of the missing persons, it was initially known that there were 11 missing persons who had not yet reported themselves, but later 2 were rescued, so there are still 9 people missing in this incident.
The missing persons were office workers on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the factory, but the fire started on the ground floor. They may not have heard or known that the fire was burning because it was a glass room. When the officers used a device to search for missing persons, they could not find them and could not contact them. There were 7 injured people who were sent to various hospitals for treatment.
One of the firefighters who were controlling the fire and searching for injured people said that they could not enter the area at this time because the floor had collapsed. The areas that were badly damaged were the second and third floors, which are offices.
