Bangkok: Shocking in the middle of the night! A fire broke out at the house of a famous university professor. His 69-year-old wife died tragically as she was unable to escape. It is believed that the fire started because the electric bicycle battery exploded.
According to Thai News Agency, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a fire broke out in a residential building in Soi Pracha Uthit 72. It was a 3-story townhouse. There were large amounts of flames and smoke in front of the house, which quickly spread to the 2nd and 3rd floors of the house. It took officers over an hour to bring the fire under control. An inspection of the house found one deceased person, Ms. Keoporn, 69, who was found dead on the floor of a room on the 3rd floor with burns all over her body. Officers from the forensic science division and a forensic doctor from Siriraj Hospital were called in to inspect the scene. In front of the house, another person was found injured from smoke inhalation, Mr. Suchart, 71, who was a lecturer at a famous university in the Pathumwan area and the owner of the house. He received first aid but did not want to go to the hospital.
From asking Mr. Suchart, he thinks that the fire may have started from the electric bicycle battery exploding. He confirmed that he just parked it but did not charge it. He went out to use the bathroom at 2 am and found that the fire had already started. Normally, there are only 2 people living in the house: him and his wife, who is 69 years old. As for the children, they have all started their own families.
Initially, the officers collected the remains of the electric bicycle battery and the remains of the bicycle for a detailed examination. As for the body of the deceased, once the examination is complete, the body will be given to the relatives for religious ceremonies. As for whether the cause of the fire was the battery or not, we must wait for the results of the examination by the forensic officers again.
