Father and Son Gun Struggle in Samut Prakan Leaves Both Injured

Samut Prakan: A violent altercation between a father and son in the Mueang District of Samut Prakan Province resulted in both parties being seriously injured by gunfire. The incident unfolded at their residence on Soi Bunsiri 18/2, where longstanding familial tensions boiled over into physical violence.

According to Thai News Agency, the conflict began when a heavily intoxicated Mr. Sarawut, 59, threatened his son, Mr. Thatchai, 29, with a firearm during a heated argument. In the ensuing struggle, Mr. Thatchai managed to seize the gun, resulting in a shot that struck him in the chest. He was found in critical condition outside the house and was immediately transported to the hospital by a rescue unit.

Inside the house, officers discovered Mr. Sarawut waiting to surrender, alongside the firearm, three bullets, and two spent casings. An investigation revealed signs of a struggle, with belongings scattered and blood pooling on the floor. Witnesses reported hearing an argument about family matters, followed by gunfire and the distressed cries of the mother, prompting neighbors to call for emergency assistance.

Authorities have taken Mr. Sarawut and the evidence to the Samut Prakan City Police Station for further investigation. Witnesses are being questioned to facilitate legal proceedings.
