Lopburi: 'Father Alongkot' has resigned as abbot of Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. Phra Thammachirasunthon, the provincial abbot of Lopburi, issued an order for the provincial abbot to resign from his position. Phra Ratchawisutthiprachanat, also known as Alongkot Tikkhapanyo, who served as the abbot of Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu in Khao Sam Yot Subdistrict, Mueang Lopburi District, Lopburi Province, requested to step down from his role.
According to Thai News Agency, this resignation follows the authority of Article 37 of the Sangha Supreme Council Act No. 24 (2008). This act pertains to the appointment and removal of Sangha officials and is in accordance with the Sangha Act of 1962, which was amended by the Sangha Act (No. 2) of 1992. Phra Ratchawisutthiprachanat has been granted permission to resign from his position, and the order is effective immediately. The directive was issued on 19 August 2025.
