Bangkok: A 66-year-old father has raised concerns about the lack of police action in the case of his 15-year-old daughter's sexual assault by relatives. After initially reporting the crime in November 2014, the father claims that the police have not pursued the investigation, stating that they "forgot" about the case. Seeking justice, the father has now approached the Justice Restoration Foundation for assistance.
According to Thai News Agency, the father reported that his daughter was assaulted by a relative, a 35-year-old cousin identified as Mr. Jek, while staying temporarily with him in Lak Si District. The victim had initially moved there for employment opportunities. Despite filing a complaint with the Thung Song Hong Metropolitan Police, no action was taken, compelling the family to seek support from the Justice Restoration Foundation.
The young victim recounted her ordeal, explaining how she was initially tricked into staying with Mr. Jek before being assaulted multiple times. Her attempts to confide in Mr. Jek's wife were met with threats and a bribe to remain silent, which she refused. Ultimately, she turned to her father to report the incidents, leading them to file a formal complaint with the authorities.
