Extreme Heat and Thunderstorms Forecasted for Thailand’s Upper Regions

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding extremely hot weather conditions in some areas of Thailand's North, Northeast, and Central regions.

According to Thai News Agency, the department has forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the upper part of Thailand will experience generally hot weather due to low pressure resulting from heat. This condition is expected to cause haze during the day, with some areas facing very hot temperatures. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions to protect their health by minimizing outdoor activities during peak heat times.

Additionally, the southern and southeastern winds are influencing weather patterns in the lower North, Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions, leading to thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind in certain areas. Residents in these regions are urged to remain vigilant about potential dangers associated with these weather events.

For the southern part of the country, the easterly and southeasterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea are relatively weak, resulting in limited rainfall in the South during this period.

Dust and smog accumulation levels are reported to be moderate to quite high in the North, Northeast, and Upper Central regions due to weak to moderate winds. This may pose additional health risks for residents in these areas.

The regional weather forecast specifies that Bangkok and its surrounding areas will have generally hot weather with a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 25-27 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 34-38 degrees Celsius. Similar weather patterns are expected across the Northern, Northeastern, Central, Eastern, and Southern regions, with varying degrees of heat and chances of thunderstorms.

Residents in all affected areas are encouraged to stay informed about the weather conditions and take appropriate safety measures.
