Chiang Mai: Police are expanding their investigation after chasing and seizing 110 kilograms of ice on the Chiang Mai border, believed to belong to a network of drug lords on the Thai-Myanmar border. According to Thai News Agency, the pursuit unfolded as Chiang Mai Provincial Police and Na Wai Police Station investigators tracked a drug-trafficking gang's pickup truck on the Thai-Myanmar border in Na Wai Subdistrict, Chiang Dao District, two days ago. The police pursued the vehicle until the gang abandoned it and fled into the forest. Despite attempts by the officers to block their escape route by firing shots, the gang managed to escape due to the darkness and their familiarity with the area. Upon inspecting the abandoned pickup truck, police discovered nine suspicious sacks containing 110 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. This prompted an expansion of the investigation to scrutinize the transport route and associated networks. Most recently, officers brought all the seized ice for examination at the C hiang Mai Provincial Police Headquarters. Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchai Phongwiwatchai, Commander of the Chiang Mai Provincial Police, convened a meeting with the investigation team to gather evidence for issuing an arrest warrant for the drug trafficking gang. Pol. Lt. Col. Thawatchai initially revealed that the ice is likely owned by the network of Colonel Ja Lo Bo, a drug lord of the Muser group, who already has an arrest warrant from the ONCB. There is now sufficient evidence to issue an arrest warrant for the drug smuggling team located in the border area, which has ties to networks outside the country.
