Expedite Case of Former MP’s Son Involved in Assault on Female Students

Udon thani: Three female students were reportedly attacked by the daughter of a former MP from Udon Thani, who allegedly organized a group assault on them. The incident, which was also recorded and shared on social media, has now reached a settlement between the parties involved.

According to Thai News Agency, Ton Aor, one of the victims, along with the other two assaulted students, approached Pol. Col. Pattanawong Chanphon, Superintendent of Muang Udon Thani Police Station, to expedite the investigation into the assault case. The incident took place on June 7, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. when a Mathayom 6 student from a prominent girls' school in Udon Thani Province was attacked by a group of 5-6 individuals, including the daughter of a former MP and former minister, resulting in a broken nose. Despite the severity of the incident, progress on the case has been stagnant.

The 17-year-old victim recounted that she was physically assaulted by the son of a former MP, who struck her with a glass, causing significant injury. Her friends deceived her into leaving, leading to an attack by 5-6 female accomplices who further injured her with a stainless steel glass. The altercation stemmed from a verbal exchange with the son of the former MP, who demanded an apology. Although she apologized, the situation escalated when she refused to perform a wai, a traditional Thai gesture of respect. The victim expressed her fear of leaving her home and admitted to having suicidal thoughts due to the attack, which her mother and friends helped her overcome.

Other victims also suffered at the hands of the former MP's children. Nong A (assumed name) endured an attack that left her arm broken two years prior, while Nong B was assaulted by the former MP's son and a group of ten, resulting in a broken eye socket. The incident was recorded and shared online to embarrass her.

The victim's mother reported that her daughter was too frightened to attend school after the attack, as the assailants continued to threaten her. Seeking assistance from Ton Ao, she expressed concerns that the former MP's family still wielded influence and feared further harassment. She urged the police to apprehend and prosecute the assailants.

Ton Or, after receiving the complaint, noted that the assault clip was shared online, portraying the attackers as formidable and untouchable. The incident, believed to be rooted in school jealousy, led to the victim contemplating suicide. Ton Or urged parents to guide their children to prevent such incidents.

Subsequently, the daughter of the former MP, accompanied by her lawyer and a friend, met with the victims and officials from various child protection and social development agencies for mediation. The three-hour session aimed to address the issue, as both the victim and the perpetrator were minors. Following the mediation, the lawyer mentioned that the incident was a misunderstanding and that further mediation would be necessary.

Reporters attempted to get a statement from the daughter of the former MP, but she remained silent, with her lawyer stating that there was nothing further to add at this time. Further discussions are anticipated to resolve the matter.
