Ex-Husband Killed in Samut Prakan Shooting Amidst Love Triangle

Samut Prakan: A tragic shooting incident unfolded in the Phraeksa area, Mueang District, resulting in the death of 42-year-old Mr. Somkiat. The confrontation occurred outside a two-story single-family home, where jealousy and a past relationship culminated in violence.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place around 10:30 p.m., when Mr. Somkiat confronted his ex-wife and her new boyfriend, Mr. Thitiwat, aged 29. Armed with a gun, Mr. Somkiat approached the couple in a fit of jealousy. In the ensuing altercation, Mr. Thitiwat shot him three times-in the chest, right arm, and left wrist-before fleeing the scene in a sedan.

Emergency services performed CPR on Mr. Somkiat before rushing him to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A 9 mm semi-automatic pistol was discovered at the scene, along with six bullet casings and two bullet heads, prompting police to secure the area for further investigation.

A neighbor, who heard gunshots but initially mistook them for firecrackers, recounted hearing screams and discovering Mr. Somkiat injured on the ground. The neighbor's testimony highlights the chaotic nature of the incident.

Shortly after midnight, Mr. Thitiwat contacted police to surrender. He was apprehended without incident in front of the village, and officers recovered a 9 mm semi-automatic gun with two bullets from his vehicle. Mr. Thitiwat admitted to the shooting, claiming self-defense as Mr. Somkiat approached with a weapon. He expressed shock at the event and stated that he fled the scene in panic before deciding to turn himself in.

The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, gathering evidence and testimonies to piece together the events leading to the tragic outcome.
