Buriram province: The sound of cannons continues to echo across Buriram Province, compelling nearly 100% of the villagers in Ban Kruat District, which borders Cambodia, to evacuate. The area has become almost a deserted city as hospitals, government offices, gas stations, and shops have closed down following the fall of nearly 100 cannons.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters visiting the affected border area of Ban Kruat District observed that most residents had already evacuated. A few villagers remained amidst the ongoing shelling from Cambodian BM-21s. While gunfire continued intermittently, no homes had been hit yet, with most of the shelling occurring in rubber plantations. Those who stayed behind expressed concerns over their properties, fearing that criminals might exploit the situation to loot.
In response to the crisis, Nang Rong Municipality in Nang Rong District has established an additional evacuation center to accommodate those affected by the conflict, including residents from Lahan Sai District, situated just 45 kilometers away. Medical professionals from Nang Rong Hospital are actively providing care for bedridden patients, the elderly, and individuals requiring medical equipment as evacuees continue to arrive.
