ERC and BIGC Collaborate to Test Carbon Management Platform for Net Zero Goals

Bangkok: The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and Bangkok Industrial Gas Co., Ltd. (BIGC) have partnered to test a carbon management platform aimed at advancing a Net Zero society. Dr. Poonpat Leesombatpaiboon, Secretary-General of the ERC, and Ms. Orla Charoenlap, Chief Finance Officer of BIG, formalized this collaboration with a memorandum of understanding to pilot the technology for measuring and analyzing greenhouse gas emissions within the ERC.

According to Thai News Agency, this initiative seeks to leverage the platform's insights to enhance energy management efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The ERC aims to set a model for both public and private sectors across the country in promoting greenhouse gas emission reductions.

The collaboration supports Thailand's strategic objectives to address the energy crisis and climate change, with targets for Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero emissions by 2065. The ERC and BIG are conducting a trial of the platform at Chamchuri Square Building on the 19th and 20th floors, with the project scheduled to run from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
