Election Commission Schedules Municipal Elections for May 11, 2025

Bangkok: The Election Commission has officially set the date for upcoming municipal elections on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Applications for candidacy will be accepted from March 31 to April 4, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, the Election Commission Office has announced its plan to oversee the election of municipal council members and mayors, whose terms are due to expire on March 27, 2025. As stipulated, these elections must take place within 45 days following the conclusion of the current term of any local council member or administrator. To facilitate this process, the Election Commission has approved a draft plan for organizing these elections, confirming the election date as May 11, 2025, and detailing the application window for candidates.

The Municipal Election Director, upon obtaining approval from the Provincial Election Director, will formally announce the elections. This process will adhere to Sections 11 and 12 of the Local Council Member or Local Executive Election Act B.E. 2562 and its amendments (No. 2) B.E. 2566. Prospective candidates are advised to familiarize themselves with the application procedures and necessary documentation, which can be accessed via the Election Commission's official website, www.ect.go.th.
