Ekanat Promphan Dismisses Opposition Speculation Amid Political Dinner Controversy

Bangkok: Ekanat Promphan, Minister of Industry and Secretary-General of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, has addressed rumors surrounding a dinner attended by Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Deputy Leader of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, and several MPs. These MPs were speculated to be shifting allegiance to the New Opportunity Party. Ekanat emphasized that dining together is a common political activity and urged others not to read too much into it.

According to Thai News Agency, Ekanat expressed his belief that political gatherings are routine and should not be overanalyzed. He highlighted that images from the dinner were exaggerated and that the MPs involved, including Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Mr. Sattra Sripan, and Mr. Jirawut Singtothong, denied any political implications. Ekanat stressed the importance of focusing on productive work rather than indulging in unfounded speculation.

Ekanat further commented on the speculation around Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party potentially becoming the opposition, asserting that such thoughts were premature. He maintained that the party remains united and committed to addressing public issues. Ekanat also acknowledged challenges in communication within the party, attributing them to his demanding ministerial duties.

He humorously noted that the number of individuals reportedly present at the dinner was inflated by media outlets and cautioned against accepting such portrayals without scrutiny. Despite these challenges, Ekanat is determined to continue his work and ensure the party’s focus remains on its responsibilities to the public.

Ekanat also addressed questions about the party’s internal dynamics and the potential ambitions of Mr. Suchart, suggesting that Suchart should be approached directly for comments on his political aspirations. He reiterated the importance of adhering to party regulations and clarified that any recent amendments were routine and not targeted at specific individuals.

Throughout his statements, Ekanat underscored that the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party has no intention of becoming the opposition and that the party’s path forward remains aligned with its goals.
