Bangkok: Yuthana Praedam, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), provided updates on the ongoing investigation into the collapse of the State Audit Office building. The case, involving alleged offenses under the Foreign Business Act B.E. 2542, has seen progress with four suspects from China Railway Number 10 (Thailand) Co., Ltd. already referred to the prosecutor. The investigation team is currently tracking Mr. Binling Wu, a Chinese investor and the last suspect with an outstanding arrest warrant. While he remains at large, intelligence indicates he is still within the country.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Col. Yutthana emphasized that the bid collusion allegations are being handled separately due to accusations involving both state officials and private individuals. The case has been forwarded to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for further investigation into possible offenses committed by state officials. Details regarding the involvement of officers or executives from the State Audit Office remain undisclosed at this stage.
Pol. Lt. Col. Wisanu Chimtrakul, deputy director-general of DSI, explained that the investigation has been divided into two separate cases: the nominee case, which has already been submitted to the prosecutor involving three Thai suspects and Mr. Chuanling Zhang from China Railway Number 10, and the bid-rigging case, which is being treated as a special case. The latter is currently under expedited investigation, with numerous witnesses providing valuable information to ensure evidence is gathered efficiently and thoroughly. All parties involved are being given the opportunity to present their explanations.
