DSI Probes 2014 Senate Arrival as Unlawful, Investigates Money Laundering and Triad Scandal

Bangkok: Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, has announced that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is probing the acquisition of senators in 2024 as a special case, deeming it unlawful and connected to money laundering and gang activities.

According to Thai News Agency, this issue dates back to 2014 and has been coordinated with the Election Commission, highlighting the significance of senators as a critical legislative power representing the people. The matter, considered an offense under the constitution and a national security concern, has thus far seen the collection of substantial evidence involving various groups and charges.

DSI is set to investigate the offenses under Section 113, focusing on money laundering and gangster cases. Meanwhile, the Election Commission will address violations under election law independently or possibly in collaboration with DSI. This approach aims to ensure that a neutral organization conducts the investigation.
