Bangkok: DSI-Investigation 9, in collaboration with officers from the Crime Suppression Division and the Investigation Unit of the Metropolitan Police Bureau 9, has made significant progress in their ongoing efforts to dismantle a drug gang operating in Thonburi. During a recent operation, authorities seized 25 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 23 kg of ketamine, which were found in black plastic bags inside two black Honda sedans and a white Honda sedan. These vehicles were discovered abandoned at the entrance to Soi Phetkasem 92, Phetkasem Road, in the Bang Khae Nuea Subdistrict of Bang Khae District.
According to Thai News Agency, the operation was set in motion after the DSI and Metropolitan Police Bureau 9 received a tip-off about an impending drug delivery in the area of Petchkasem Road, extending to Rama II Road. The authorities were monitoring a black Honda sedan suspected of being used to transport the drugs when the vehicle suffered a radiator failure, stopping in the middle of the road. The suspects had planned to use a white Honda Jazz sedan to pick up the drugs. However, upon spotting the police, the suspects abandoned the vehicles and fled the scene.
An inspection revealed that the vehicles had broken down in Soi Phetkasem 92. Inside the black HR-V, officers found three black plastic bags of drugs on the passenger seat and another on the back of the driver's seat. The white Honda contained four black plastic bags of drugs on the passenger seat. Lak Song Police Station was contacted to assist with the inspection, and the seized items were recorded as evidence.
Authorities have coordinated with forensic officers to collect fingerprints and have sent the evidence to investigators at Lak Song Police Station. The evidence will be forwarded to the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) to aid in expanding the investigation, with the aim of identifying the car owner and other members of the gang.
Reports indicate that the suspects are part of a drug gang active in the Thonburi area. The investigation officers of the Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 9 are actively pursuing the suspects to bring them to justice.
