DSI Convenes Meeting with Three Agencies to Investigate Auditor General’s Office Building Collapse

Bangkok: The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has called a meeting with three key agencies to gather additional evidence in connection with the collapse of the Office of the Auditor General building. The meeting aims to explore potential violations of the Foreign Business Act and the law on bidding, which may have contributed to the incident.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Col. Woranan Srilam, Director of the Consumer Protection Division and spokesperson for the DSI, was on-site to oversee the efforts of police officers, rescue workers, and other involved parties. In a statement, he mentioned that the DSI invited the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning, and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) to the meeting. The focus will be on scrutinizing the role of the construction contractor responsible for the State Audit Office building, particularly concerning compliance with relevant laws.

The meeting's objective is to simultaneously review evidence to identify necessary areas for further collection. Coordination with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will be essential to determine specific needs and required cooperation. The investigation will prioritize three main areas: the involvement of nominees, unfair price competition, and the quality standards of construction materials used in the building. The DSI aims to conduct the investigation efficiently and as directly as possible, minimizing the time required to reach conclusions.
