Bangkok: The Election Commission has not yet provided a clear response regarding the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) board's plan to invite them for information on alleged collusion in the selection of senators. The DSI board is preparing to invite representatives from the Election Commission to clarify the process of the petition concerning collusion in the selection of Senators in 2024.
According to Thai News Agency, the Special Case Committee of the DSI has resolved to call upon the Election Commission to provide information and insights on the petition process in early March. The Election Commission is expected to clarify what legal authority was invoked in the invitation and identify which officials, such as the EC secretary-general or other members, are required to provide the information.
The investigation into the petition has been ongoing, with senators already invited to provide information to investigators. The Election Commission has confirmed that the consideration of the petition regarding the selection of senators will be completed within one year from the announcement of the certification, which is set for July 10, 2024.
