Dr. Lasamon Appointed as New CEO of National Credit Bureau

Bangkok: The National Credit Bureau Co., Ltd. has announced the appointment of Dr. Lasamon Atthapich as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2025. This transition follows the 15-year tenure of Mr. Surapol Opasathien and aligns with the bureau's vision to enhance its role in providing quality credit information, promoting financial health among the public, and contributing to economic stability and growth.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Lasamon Atthapich aims to lead the Credit Information Center by integrating digital strategies, innovation, and technology. Her focus will be on improving public financial health and creating business opportunities, particularly for Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The bureau is set to embrace modern challenges, emphasizing flexibility and responsiveness to business and technological changes. This approach includes supporting financial institutions in risk management, expanding business partnerships, and ensuring strict protection of data owner rights.

Mr. Surapol Opasathien, the outgoing President, expressed confidence in Dr. Lasamon's leadership. He highlighted her experience, business acumen, and understanding of the economic system and financial infrastructure as key assets in managing and innovating for the future. Dr. Lasamon brings over 20 years of experience in economics, with expertise in economic policy analysis, investment, and international relations. Her notable positions include Deputy Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Policy Committee, Senior Economist at the Asian Development Bank in Thailand, and roles within the Ministry of Finance focused on international relations, taxation, capital markets, microfinance, and economic policy analysis.

Dr. Lasamon's academic credentials include a PhD and Master's degrees in Southeast Asian Studies (Economic Development) from the University of Hull, United Kingdom, a Diploma in Economics from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (Finance) with First Class Honors and a Gold Medal from Chulalongkorn University.
