Disciples Stand Firm in Support of Luang Por Alongkot Amid Controversy

Lopburi: The disciples of Luang Por Alongkot continue to express unwavering faith in their spiritual leader, despite recent controversies surrounding him. The Lopburi Sri Suwannaphum Buddhist Center in Huai Pong Subdistrict saw a gathering of Buddhists, disciples, and laypeople early in the morning for a gold pouring ceremony intended for casting Buddhanussati coins. Notably absent from the event was Luang Por Alongkot, who typically presides over such ceremonies and teaches Dhamma to attendees.

According to Thai News Agency, the absence of Luang Por Alongkot at the ceremony was unusual and had not been communicated as part of any prior commitments. Despite this, laypeople participating in meditation retreats expressed their continued faith, attributing the negative news to individuals with ill intentions towards Buddhism. They urge officials to expedite their investigation and share their findings with the public, cautioning news consumers against focusing solely on the negative aspects.

The atmosphere at Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu was notably quieter than usual, with regular Sunday activities like the Senior Citizens' Singing Competition being canceled. The usual flow of people coming to make merit was also absent.

In response to recent speculation, particularly a cryptic message about fleeing posted by Professor Trin Phothiraksa, a criminologist specializing in psychology and criminal behavior, Luang Por Alongkot assured Channel One's news team that he has not fled. He emphasized the importance of preparing accurate information to address public concerns and promised a forthcoming statement to clarify the situation.
