Disaster Prevention Department Declares Major Earthquake Incident in Bangkok

Bangkok: The Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued a summary statement regarding a recent earthquake incident, categorizing it as a major disaster. The earthquake has caused significant damage across 14 provinces, resulted in 8 fatalities, injured 9 individuals, and left approximately 80 people missing.

According to Thai News Agency, the earthquake has also led to more than 140 aftershocks, although the intensity of these is expected to gradually diminish. Efforts to aid those affected are underway, with the Governor of Bangkok providing updates on the ongoing rescue operations for survivors trapped in a collapsed building in the Chatuchak area. Furthermore, there is an update on the traffic situation in Bangkok as authorities work to manage the aftermath of the disaster.
