Director-General Advises Against Rushing Animal Feed Corn Harvest Due to Rain Risks

Bangkok: The Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade has advised farmers not to rush the harvest of animal feed corn to prevent losses from rain and flooding, emphasizing the security provided by a guaranteed price throughout the production season.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Witthayakorn Maneenet, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, acknowledged the challenges posed by recent heavy rains and flooding, which have affected farmer productivity. He highlighted the substantial availability of animal feed corn and urged farmers to avoid hastening their harvest if their crops remain unaffected by adverse weather conditions.

Mr. Maneenet recommended that farmers schedule their harvests carefully and ensure the crops have a moisture content of no more than 30%, as this can lead to better pricing. The Ministry of Commerce has set a guaranteed purchase price of 7.05 baht per kilogram for fresh animal feed corn with the specified moisture content in the provinces of Phetchabun, Kamphaeng Phet, Chaiyaphum, Phichit, and Uthai Thani. Other provinces will maintain their provincial purchase price structures until July 31, 2026, with the fixed price applicable throughout the growing season. Mr. Maneenet emphasized the importance of patience in harvesting, ensuring that farmers can benefit from the established price guarantees.
