Bangkok: The Department of Land Transport is now providing public driver’s license services outside regular office hours. This initiative is aimed at facilitating the public in acquiring or renewing their driver’s licenses, provided they are still valid or have expired for no more than three years. The service was made available on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Seksom Akraphan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Land Transport and spokesperson, emphasized that the initiative is intended for applicants who have completed the necessary e-learning training. The service was conducted at Building 4 of the Department of Land Transport. Applicants needed to prepare specific documents, including a national ID card, medical certificate, and e-learning training results, among others. After document verification, applicants were directed for a criminal background check at the Royal Thai Police headquarters. Subsequent steps involve a physical fitness test and an E-exam, with the issuance of a license contingent on a clear background check. Fees for the license are set at 305 baht for public cars and 155 baht for public motorcycles.
For further assistance, individuals can contact the Driver’s License Section at the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Area 5 Land Transport Office or the Passenger Protection and Complaint Center. Additionally, the Department is working to expedite the legal compliance process for car and motorcycle taxi service providers using applications. These drivers must possess a public driver’s license and register with the Department by October 2, 2025, to avoid legal violations.
