Cyber Police to Issue Summons for Alleged Impersonation in High-Society Fraud Case

Bangkok: Sirawat Deepo, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division 1, has disclosed developments in the case involving Mr. Thanathep, also known as Hi-So Hot. Mr. Thanathep is accused of falsely claiming that Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwpaen, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division, assisted the ex-boyfriend of actress 'Kana.' This claim allegedly allowed Mr. Thanathep to boast about knowing an influential individual.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Kana, when questioned, did not initially suspect any fraudulent money transfers but expressed concern about the use of false information to deceive others via Line chat. The investigation revealed that an adult individual was impersonated in these chats, falsely claiming familiarity and engaging in conversations on Line. Legal actions are being pursued, and the Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division has authorized legal proceedings in this matter.

The investigation identified a violation of the Computer Act. A summons is set to be issued for the suspect to meet with investigators. However, it has been noted that the suspect is undergoing treatment and will need to recover fully before appearing. The case carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison, and failure to comply with the summons will result in an arrest warrant.

Regarding the allegations of fraud against a fake high-society individual for deceiving people into paying 98,000 baht for a champagne gift for the Prime Minister, the investigation continues. Evidence is being gathered, and various individuals are being cited. Summonses are being issued across multiple areas, including court orders to track down the individual responsible for the fraud.
