Cyber Police Crack Down on ‘Minnie’ Gambling Network with Raids Across Thailand

Bangkok: Police from the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) conducted a series of coordinated raids across nine locations in Bangkok, Loei Province, and neighboring areas, resulting in multiple arrests connected to the infamous 'Minnie' online gambling network, which has over 30 pending arrest warrants.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwpaen, Commander of the TCSD, spearheaded the operation. The raids targeted key figures within the network, known for its clandestine online gambling activities. The operation highlighted the search of Ms. Thanyanun, also known as Minnie, at a residence in Loei Province. Although she was not apprehended at that location, officers seized various pieces of evidence for further examination. Additional arrests were made involving account managers and individuals operating mule accounts within the network.

In a simultaneous raid in Bangkok, authorities located Ms. Thanyanun. She was presented with an arrest warrant and taken in for questioning. The operation stemmed from an extensive investigation by the TCSD, which discovered that the Minnie network continued to operate discreetly, circumventing legal scrutiny by frequently changing its URL and website names. Despite these evasive tactics, the TCSD managed to gather substantial evidence, enabling them to secure search and arrest warrants for Minnie and over 30 associates, including administrators and financial managers involved in the operation.

Ms. Thanyanun is no stranger to legal troubles, having been previously arrested on July 28, 2023, in a related online gambling and money laundering case. During that arrest, authorities confiscated significant evidence, including 100 commercial bank account books, over 55 electronic cards, 30 mobile phones, and 920,000 baht in cash. The operation also uncovered computers, iPads, and internet transmitters, with a total transaction volume exceeding 100 million baht.
