Rawai: Heartbreaking! A foreign man buried a dog alive. Fortunately, the authorities and villagers were able to help in time before contacting the Soi Dog Foundation to take care of the dog and file a complaint against the dog owner.
According to Thai News Agency, the Phuket Times shared a video clip capturing the distressing scene, which showed a Siberian Husky buried with only its head visible, groaning in pain. The incident occurred in Rawai District, Phuket Province, where initial investigations identified a foreign resident on Soi Suksan 1 as the offender. A video was recorded to support the complaint against him.
Rawai Municipality officials and local villagers acted quickly, saving the dog just in time. They reached out to the Soi Dog Foundation for a medical checkup and initiated legal proceedings against the owner.
Mr. Thames Kraitat, Mayor of Rawai Subdistrict Municipality, accompanied by Mr. Khwanchai Watcharaphiwat, Deputy Mayor, and other agencies inspected the site. The residence, owned by a French national, housed three dogs-a family comprising father, mother, and a pup. The buried dog was the youngest. Although rescued, it was in a weak state.
The foreign owner claimed the buried dog was sick and presumed dead. He alleged they checked for a pulse but found none, only to hear it cry after burial. Skeptical of his account, the officers contacted Soi Dog Foundation, who filed an animal cruelty complaint.
The Soi Dog Foundation will care for the three dogs until they recover enough for adoption. Foundation staff have discussed the incident with the owner, while Chalong Police Station proceeds with further investigation and legal action.
