Coordinate with Cambodia to Clear Stranded Freight Vehicles at Ban Pakkat Point


Chanthaburi: The Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defense Force has coordinated with Cambodia to clear the stranded cargo vehicles at Ban Pakkat, after 32 vehicles were stranded yesterday. Meanwhile, the Ban Laem checkpoint is open to individuals only and does not allow carts carrying Thai agricultural products to cross into Cambodia.



According to Thai News Agency, Rear Admiral Parat Rattanachaiphan, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Navy, stated about the situation at the permanent border crossings at Ban Laem and Ban Pakkat in Chanthaburi Province after Cambodia implemented measures to close and open the border, causing cargo vehicles to be stranded on both sides. At the permanent border crossing at Ban Pakkat, Tambon Khlong Yai, Amphoe Khlong Yai, there were 32 Thai cargo vehicles stranded from yesterday. The Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defense Force (CPDDF) coordinated with Cambodian immigration officials to open the gates to allow cargo vehicles to return to Thailand this morning.



The permanent border crossing at Ban Laem, Tambon Khlong Yai, Amphoe Khlong Yai, remains closed and is open to individuals for crossing, and carts carrying Thai agricultural products are not allowed to pass through.



For the impacts mentioned above, resulting from the measure to close the Cambodian border, since yesterday, the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defense Force has coordinated with the Cambodian side to request that the border be opened to clear the stranded vehicles from both sides so that the public does not suffer. Until approximately 5:00 p.m. yesterday, the Cambodian side opened the gate to clear the cargo vehicles from both sides.
