Bangkok: Rama 2 Road witnessed another alarming incident as concrete structure parts fell onto a car, causing a dent during heavy rain and wind. The car owner expressed relief that the debris landed on the back of the vehicle, minimizing damage. The construction contractor has since issued an apology and is prepared to offer compensation. According to Thai News Agency, Bangsaen Mahanakorn Company Limited, the contractor responsible for the Special Highway No. 82 construction project, issued a statement addressing the incident. The company acknowledged the occurrence and confirmed that their team of engineers and safety officers promptly inspected the site. On May 31st, at 6:00 p.m., a piece of steel support, specifically a U-Head, fell from its position on Highway No. 35 (Rama II Road) at Km. 27 in Mueang District, Samut Sakhon, damaging a citizen's car. The initial investigation revealed that although no construction was active at the time, severe weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, contributed to the incident. These conditions led to flooding, falling billboards, and uprooted trees in the area, causing the misplaced equipment to fall. The company has reached out to the affected party to arrange compensation and has reinforced safety measures to prevent future occurrences. The construction site has been cleared, and additional accident prevention protocols have been implemented to ensure safety moving forward.
