Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan Evades Media Over Rice Price Discontent

Bangkok: "Pichai" quickly fled from the media after being pressed to ask if Pheu Thai MPs were dissatisfied with the solution to the problem of falling rice prices, not worried about being shaken out of the ministerial position. Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan declined to be interviewed about the dissatisfaction of Pheu Thai Party MPs with the solution to the problem of low rice prices and agricultural products. After the press conference, Pichai quickly cut off the question by saying that they would talk after the meeting.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pichai swiftly departed from the interview scene, leaving reporters attempting to gather further comments on whether he had briefed the MPs on the issue. Mr. Pichai mentioned that he had already conversed with some of them.

When questioned about whether the MPs' demands signified a political signal, Pichai remarked that there was nothing amiss with it.

Addressing the meeting with the Prime Minister, Mr. Pichai clarified that it was unrelated to the MPs' dissatisfaction. The discussions were solely focused on rice.

In response to concerns about potential ministerial position instability due to internal party opinions and previous criticisms from coalition parties, Mr. Pichai refrained from commenting before hurrying into a vehicle to attend a meeting at the Department of Internal Trade.
