CMDF organizes the CMDF/CMRI Capital Market Research Symposium 2024, presenting the first capital market research results and promoting the use of research results in tangible ways.
The Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF) and the Capital Market Research Institute (CMRI), agencies under the CMDF, organized the first CMDF/CMRI Capital Market Research Symposium 2024 at the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) to present research works supported by CMDF and CMRI, which have been used to develop and drive the Thai capital market, to agencies in the capital market sector, listed companies, investors, relevant government agencies, academics, and the general public. This will help them understand and gain awareness of the roles and responsibilities of CMDF and CMRI in driving the development of capital market research in various aspects, leading to the sustainable development of the Thai capital market in the future. Professor Emeritus Kittipong Urapipatanapong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SET and Chairman of the CMDF, gave an opening speech, and Mr. Paiboon Nalinthrangkun, Director and Chairman of the Research Subcommittee of the Capital Market Development Fund, gave a special spee ch. 'The Importance of Capital Market Research to Thailand's Development' and a special lecture 'Digital Assets: Know Deeply and Truly Before Making an Investment Decision' by Dr. Naphat Jatusripitak, Managing Director of Thailand Future Foundation;
Mr. Paiboon Nalinthrangkun, Committee Member and Chairman of the CMDF Research Subcommittee, revealed that CMDF focuses on proactively supporting various research projects to cover all aspects in order to stimulate capital market development in line with the changing situation; and also disseminates policy research to create wider awareness, expecting the knowledge gained from research projects to be applied in a tangible way, including pushing for and expanding cooperation with stakeholders to listen to suggestions, exchange perspectives, and ideas on developing the Thai capital market, so that the design of the CMDF's support scope is consistent with the context, development, and needs of domestic industries, creating the greatest benefit for both the ecosystem and the Thai capital market.
The CMDF's operations in 2024 will continue to take into account supporting the development of the Thai capital market ecosystem through the four main objectives, covering both promoting the development of organizations and infrastructure related to the capital market, developing the potential of personnel, enhancing knowledge and understanding of the capital market, investment, and promoting and supporting education, research, training, and academic work that are beneficial to the capital market, with CMRI as the main agency focusing on developing and increasing the potential for research for the capital market, as well as promoting and supporting funding for research for the capital market to expand widely and promoting various operations for the development of the capital market that are in line with the changing trends in technology, changing economic and financial dynamics, and the increasing importance of driving ESG.
Mr. Jakchai Boonyawatt, Manager of the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF), revealed that the research funding of CMDF is a good starting point for the development of the Thai capital market for sustainable growth. Some of the funding projects have started to show results that are beneficial to the capital market and the data has been used to develop actual policies. Stakeholders, including regulators and entrepreneurs in the capital market, can use the research results from these projects to adjust and increase efficiency in the capital market business in the future.
The event also featured a seminar on research topics supported by CMDF and CMRI, such as 'ESG Trend and Sustainable Development of the Thai Capital Market' and presentations of current funded research projects to hear opinions from experts in the capital market business sector.
