“Chusak” Orders Immediate Investigation into “Chao Khun Ach” Disrobing and Fleeing Incident

Bangkok: "Chusak" orders the Director of the Department of Education to urgently investigate the case of "Chao Khun Ach" being disrobed suddenly before fleeing to Laos. It is unusual. It is expected that the cause will be known soon.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office overseeing the National Office of Buddhism (NOB), addressed the incident involving Phra Thep Wachirapamok. The former abbot of Wat Tri Thotsathep Worawihan and leader of the 14th-15th Sangha Region (Thammayut) disrobed unexpectedly and subsequently crossed the border to Laos on the same day. Mr. Chusak mentioned that while he has been monitoring the situation, the reason behind the abrupt disrobing remains unknown.

When questioned about potential parallels with the Wat Rai Khing incident, Mr. Chusak stated that the Director of the Department of Religious Affairs is actively investigating the matter. He highlighted the unusual nature of the incident and had ordered an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding it.

In response to queries about possible financial or personal motivations, Mr. Chusak refrained from speculation, emphasizing the importance of awaiting verified information to prevent any unwarranted harm. He entrusted the Director of the Department of Religious Affairs with the investigation, anticipating that further details would emerge by the evening or the following morning.
