Chusak Criticizes Opposition’s Focus on Prime Minister in Censure Motion

Bangkok: "Chusak" criticizes the opposition that questioning the prime minister alone may cause problems.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak Sirinil, deputy leader of the Pheu Thai Party and Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, expressed concerns over the opposition's decision to file a censure motion targeting only the prime minister. Under the constitution, a censure motion can be directed at individual ministers, including the prime minister, or at the entire cabinet. The current motion limits the debate to the prime minister alone, which Chusak fears could complicate the meeting's proceedings. He noted that the government has planned only one day of debate due to the motion's narrow focus, yet the issues raised are quite extensive.

Mr. Chusak further stated that while it is understandable that the opposition is focusing on the Prime Minister, who oversees the administration of all ministries, the responsibility inherently involves all ministries. This focus could lead to complications, especially if the debate centers on a specific ministry's actions, where the Prime Minister may not be directly involved. Such a scenario could result in protests and confusion during the debate process.

Chusak expressed his personal view that the opposition might be overly political in their approach, potentially hindering the effectiveness of the no-confidence debate. He suggested that by focusing solely on the prime minister, the opposition might be missing the broader picture of the nation's political and governmental issues, which have evolved over time.
