Chusak Confident in Postponement of Pheu Thai’s Motion to Constitutional Court

Bangkok: "Chusak" sees no problem in postponing Pheu Thai's motion to send to the Constitutional Court on the issue of holding a referendum to amend the constitution. Believes that Bhumjaithai Party's support this round should not be interrupted.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, commented on the submission of a motion by Pheu Thai Party MPs to the President of the National Assembly. The motion seeks the Constitutional Court's ruling on conducting a referendum for constitutional amendments. Chusak mentioned that it is a routine motion and can be included for consideration once submitted to the President of the National Assembly. The decision on when to include it involves discussions among the whips of the three parties, though no date has been set for these talks.

Regarding the Bhumjaithai Party's shift in stance to support the motion by the Pheu Thai Party, Mr. Chusak expressed optimism that this change should prevent any obstacles, unlike previous instances. He emphasized the expectation that the support would remain steady, suggesting smoother proceedings this time around.

When questioned about consultations with senators, Mr. Chusak noted that the postponement of the motion was a procedural matter without underlying issues. He reassured there should be no complications arising from the delay, as it merely involves scheduling the motion for consideration.

In response to inquiries about the potential frequency of referendums following the court's ruling, Mr. Chusak chose not to provide a direct answer, instead responding with a laugh.
