Chulalongkorn Yookes Apologizes to Chidchob Family Over False Khao Kradong Land Claims

Buriram: A letter from Chulalongkorn, a member of the People’s Party, has been released, apologizing to Newin, the Chidchob family, and the people of Buriram. He admits that the Khao Kradong land debate was entirely false, and he is ready to donate 10,000 baht to a hospital. He will post an apology on his Facebook page within seven days, expressing his responsibility.

According to Thai News Agency, Chulalongkorn Yookes, a party-list MP for the Prachachon Party, has written to Newin Chidchob and his family, apologizing and expressing responsibility for the debate regarding the Khao Kradong land plot, which took place in Parliament during the no-confidence vote against the Prime Minister on March 24, 2025. The content of the debate, which implicated the Chidchob family regarding the Khao Kradong land plot in Buriram Province, was false and damaging to their reputation. The argument alleges that they used political influence to obstruct government agencies in complying with the law and Supreme Court decisions to seize over 5,000 rai of Khao Kradong land, which the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) claimed belonged to the SRT.

Mr. Chulaphong stated that the content of the debate followed a script prepared by his team. As a first-term MP, he was negligent in failing to thoroughly verify the facts and maps received from the State Railway of Thailand, leading him to believe that the information was correct. After receiving the facts and evidence from Mr. Newin Chidchob’s attorney and lawyer on June 9, 2025, he clearly understood that the Chidchob family had no intention of illegally occupying the Khao Kradong land from the beginning. They never used political influence to force government agencies to take any action for personal gain, and they were determined to comply with the law to uphold the country’s justice system.

“For the reasons stated above, I repent of my actions and admit that the content of the debate was entirely false. I would like to express my remorse and offer my deepest apologies to Mr. Newin Chidchob, the entire Chidchob family, and the people of Buriram. To express my sincere remorse, I will donate 10,000 baht to apologize to the people of Buriram affected by my debate. I will also publish the content of my apology letter on my Facebook page, pinning it on the homepage for at least seven days. I hope that you and your family will see my sincerity and forgive me for this mistake. This is the first time I have committed this offense,” said Mr. Chulaphong.
