Navy Clears Minefield in Ban Chamrak, Demolishes Encroaching Structures

Trat: Navy soldiers successfully cleared a minefield in Ban Chamrak, Trat Province, pushing back opposing Cambodian forces and demolishing three buildings that had encroached on Thai sovereignty. Villagers from Nong Chan, Sa Kaeo Province, supported the operation by providing food to frontline soldiers, and no unusual activity was detected in the area.

According to Thai News Agency, Admiral Jirapol Wongwit, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, along with Admiral Pairoj Fuengchan, newly appointed Commander-in-Chief, tasked Vice Admiral Apichart Sapprasert, Commander of the Marine Corps and the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defense Force (CBDDF), with the mission to clear the border area of Ban Cham Rak. This area is recognized under Thai sovereignty. The Trat Marine Task Force, a branch of the CBDDF, successfully expelled Cambodian forces from the area opposite Ban Nong Ri, Cham Rak Subdistrict. The primary objective of the operation was achieved with the complete destruction of the three structures, ensuring no opposing forces remained in the area.

In Ban Nong Chan, Sa Kaeo Province, the environment remained calm as residents continued to deliver essential supplies, such as eggs and drinking water, to the soldiers stationed at the frontlines, though the activity was less compared to previous days. On the Cambodian side, interest surged following the installation of a trilingual sign by Thailand, asserting sovereignty and reclaiming Thai territory. The sign, written in Thai, English, and Cambodian, has attracted many Cambodians, including elderly people, teenagers, young children, and monks, who have been gathering at the site. Families have been arriving in large groups, capturing images with their mobile phones, turning it into a new local landmark.

While the overall situation remains peaceful, without any signs of unrest, reports this afternoon noted that Cambodians participated in what appeared to be a ritual, offering sweet and savory items at the Nong Ya Kaew area, where the trilingual signs are displayed. Meanwhile, the Burapha Force and the Aranyaprathet Special Task Force continue to maintain strict surveillance along the border, ensuring stability without any unusual activities being reported.
