Chaiyaphum: A drunk man set fire to a car, damaging it, before fleeing into the forest to hide. Officers searched for over an hour, found him, used an electric gun to subdue him, and successfully arrested him.
According to Thai News Agency, at 10pm last night, a car was set on fire on the side of the road near the bridge's neck on the way to the spillway in the Muang Noi Tai community, Tambon Nai Mueang, Amphoe Mueang, Chaiyaphum Province. Muang Chaiyaphum Police Station coordinated with the Chaiyaphum Municipality Fire Department and the Sawang Khunnatham Foundation Rescue Unit in Chaiyaphum Province to inspect the scene.
At the scene, a shirtless man was found, hallucinating, talking to himself, walking around the vehicle, holding a 1-foot long sword in his hand, while the flames were engulfing the pickup truck and were about to spread into the house.
The officers spent more than an hour talking to him, but it was not successful because the man spoke incoherently, going around in circles. When I listened, I could understand some of his sentences, that no one loved him, his wife did not love him, his coworkers did not love him, he was alone now, and he wanted to die.
Villagers reported that the perpetrator, named Mr. Ae, had been drinking alcohol and kratom until he was drunk and had an argument with his wife. He was then kicked out of the house before setting fire to his own car, completely damaging it. Officers took the opportunity to spray water to put out the fire, while Mr. Ae ran into the forest to hide. Officers searched the forest for over an hour and a half until they finally arrested him at around 1:30 a.m. last night.
Initial investigations found no drugs in the body. The cause is under further investigation and the officers will provide treatment. If the symptoms improve, a detailed investigation will be conducted.
